Duct Tape to remove warts
Duct Tape to remove warts? No kidding?
Ok, I know that you are probably thinking this is another web scam, tricking you into doing or buying something absolutely worthless, but please, just wait a second before you navigate away from this lens, in your quest for a "serious" way to remove warts at home. I assure you that unbelievable as it may seem, duct tape has been found to be more effective in wart removal than most other home based methods, even some professional-medical methods such as cryotherapy (freezing the wart using liquid nitrogen)!
As a large number of people claimed that duct tape was highly successful in removing warts at home, a group of researchers headed by Dr Dean Focht of Cincinati Children's Hospital Medical Center decided to conduct a study, at the Madigan Army Medical Center. The research study initially involved 61 patients aged 3 to 22 years, although only 51 out of them completed the experiment. Results showed that out of 26 patients treated with duct tape, 85% succeeded in getting rid of their warts, while the corresponding success ratio in 25 patients treated with cryotherapy, was just 60%! Impressive wouldn't you say?

They say that silver duct tape works best for removing warts, but why not try something more colorful? In any case, duct tape is not just useful for removing warts, there are a thousand uses for it in every home!
How do you remove warts using duct tape?
There are two ways to use duct tape for removing warts at home.
Method # 1: Cut off a length of duct tape sufficient to cover the wart and some of the surrounding area. Stick it on and leave in place for six days. On the seventh day, take off the tape and soak the wart in warm water until soft. Use something rough such as a pumice stone to scrape the wart. Leave the area to dry overnight and the next morning cover it with a new length of duct tape for another six days. Repeat this procedure until the wart has been eliminated. Depending on the size, hardness and age of the wart, the whole process could take from a couple of weeks to a few months.
Method # 2 Start by applying some salicylic acid to your wart, before going to bed at night. Salicylic acid softens the skin and facilitates dead cell removal. You can easilly buy it over the counter. Let it dry for a couple of minutes and then apply a piece of duct tape over the affected area. Next morning, take the tape off and repeat the whole process. You should do this every day until the wart has been eliminated.

An important tip for success!
Make sure you buy the heavy duty silver grey duct tape. It has been reported that for some reason (maybe because it has a thicker layer of adhesive) it is more effective for wart removal that the transparent or multi-colored kinds!
How does duct tape work?
There are two theories as to how duct tape works to remove warts:
- The duct tape abrades the skin, facilitating the removal of dead cells, thus gradually removing the wart in the process.
- The duct tape irritates the wart, thus somehow activating the immune system to attack the virus that causes the growths.
